Cannon Fodder asks a Brute — the game’s hulking club-swinger — to kill one of his own allies while enraged. It is one of the few trophies in Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy that is genuinely random in feel, but there is a repeatable setup that turns the odds firmly in your favor.

The requirement, precisely

A Brute in rage mode (the multi-swing attack telegraphed with red glows) must land a killing blow on a regular soldier. Your damage does not matter; your positioning does. The Brute has to swing while a wounded ally is inside the arc.

The setup

  1. Bring a soldier down to a sliver of health first. The Brute’s swing only scores the trophy if it kills, and a full-health soldier can tank a hit without dying. One light attack or a thrown object leaves them ripe.
  2. Get the wounded soldier between you and the Brute, close together. The Brute’s rage swings hit in an arc — anything standing in it, friend or foe, takes the damage.
  3. Bait the rage. Stay near the Brute and keep moving so it commits to its red-glow combo while the ally is still in the swing zone.

When the swing connects and the soldier drops dead to the Brute’s blow, the trophy unlocks.

The farm spot: Chapter 5, Battle grounds

The most reliable place is Chapter 5, Desolation It Wrought, sub-chapter “Battle grounds”:

  1. Clear the first group of enemies, then take the left path (past the dropped wooden scaffolding) through the house into the abandoned camp.
  2. Climbing the left rock face to the charm chest triggers a fresh spawn including a Brute with regular soldiers.
  3. Fight in the doorway of the house rather than in the open: the tight space keeps the Brute and his allies packed together, which is exactly the condition the trophy needs.

A second natural chance comes in Chapter 7, Death It Sowed (“The whole damn army”), where the fight before the zipline pairs a Brute with regulars. If Chapter 5 did not cooperate, that fight is your backup.

Why it can take a few tries

Nothing here is glitched — the trophy is simply situational: the Brute must rage, an ally must be near death, and that ally must stand in the arc. When any leg of that fails, reload the checkpoint and re-run the setup. Chapter 5’s doorway spawn makes a full attempt take only a couple of minutes, so a handful of retries is a normal cost, not a sign you are doing it wrong.

FAQ

Does the Brute have to be in rage mode?

Yes — regular swings do not count. Rage mode is the multi-hit combo with red telegraphs; keep attacking or stay close to provoke it.

Can I knock the soldier into the Brute instead?

Positioning works however you like it: thrown objects, kicks, or luring all serve to get a wounded ally inside the Brute’s swing arc. The trophy checks who landed the killing blow, not how the soldier got there.

Is Cannon Fodder missable?

No. Brutes reappear in later-chapter fights and everything is replayable through Chapter Select.
