How to Get the Refraction Trophy in Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
Refraction needs 10 Light Concentrate burns on the worm creature. Best farming spot in Chapter 13's Labyrinth, and the fix for the counter refusing to tick.
Refraction asks you to scorch the worm creature with Light Concentrate ten times, and it has a well-earned reputation: the ability arrives late in the story, the counter can simply stop ticking on certain settings, and the worm is not somewhere you can casually revisit. Here is where to farm it efficiently and what to do when the counter freezes.
The requirement, precisely
Burn the worm creature 10 times using Light Concentrate — the sphere’s focused beam mode, which unlocks automatically during Chapter 10’s “A light that burns” sub-chapter. Every successful burn counts once; the worm retreating after each hit is normal and does not reset your progress.
The farming spot: Chapter 13’s Labyrinth
The best location is the opening stretch of Chapter 13, As One, sub-chapter “The Labyrinth”:
- Play into the Labyrinth until the worm creature begins hunting you through the corridors.
- Position yourself near a light source and cycle the sphere’s modes until you have Light Concentrate (the laser-like beam) selected.
- Let the worm approach, then burn it with the beam. It recoils and retreats.
- Repeat — lure it back with movement, burn, retreat, lure again. Ten burns later the trophy unlocks.
Because the Labyrinth keeps respawning pursuit loops, you can chain all ten burns inside a single pass through the chase without needing to restart anything.
The frozen-counter bug, and the fix
Multiple players report the same failure mode: grinding 15-20 burns on Story difficulty with Invincible Mode while the trophy counter never moves. The community-verified fix is simple:
- Change the difficulty (any switch away from your current setting works — players report moving off Story fixed it, and it kept counting after switching back).
- Burn the worm once — the counter should tick.
- Continue as normal; progress already banked is not lost.
This matches the pattern seen on other combat trophies in the game (Untouchable has the same quirk): the tracking can get stuck on a settings combination and unsticks itself after a difficulty change. If you are hunting Refraction, consider doing your burns on a standard difficulty from the start.
FAQ
When does Light Concentrate unlock?
Story-locked: it arrives in Chapter 10, “A light that burns”. You cannot earn Refraction before that point.
Is the worm creature missable?
No. Chapter 13’s Labyrinth pursuit is replayable through Chapter Select, so Refraction can be earned after the credits.
Does the burn have to kill the worm?
No. Each burn that connects counts toward the ten, whether or not it finishes the creature — which is exactly why the retreat-and-lure loop works as a farm.
